I’ve been editing professionally for over 20 years. I got my start, after film school, at a commercial post house and worked my way up from runner to assistant editor. I was in NYC at the start of the reality craze and became an editor on one of my favorite shows, “Insomniac with Dave Attell”. I have been lucky enough to work in all genres, from game show to true crime and everything in between, which makes me very versatile.
Having gone to film school (and made films of my own), I have an excellent understanding of all phases of the production process. I also started editing at a time when you had ownership over a show and saw it through from start to finish, so I’m able to handle every aspect of putting a show together, including finding the story with little or no input from others.
I’m a lover of puzzles. Editing is a lot like assembling a jigsaw puzzle that has no reference picture and you have to feel your way to a coherent solution, but it’s enormously rewarding when you get to the other side. Even though it’s a collaborative process, I certainly bring my own ideas to the table. However, I love helping people achieve their vision, whatever the project may be. Other great qualities you get when working with Jason Goldberg: reliability, humor, wisdom, caring, decisiveness, and, most importantly, grace under pressure.
But don’t take my word for it, take my mother’s:
“You are so talented, smart and funny. I think you’re just awesome.” – Mira Goldberg
